This is just sick

From the Associated Press...

A pet rabbit named Sugar Bunny was stolen from a preschool and fliers protesting circus animal acts were left in its empty cage.

No doubt the cretins who stole the rabbit released it in the wild, ensuring it's death. Rabbits raised in captivity lacks the skills necessary to survive in the wild and are quickly killed.

I used to raise rabbits, years ago. We, at one time, had a wild rabbit that had been abandoned by its mother. It's behavior was as different as night and day from the domesticated rabbits. We had to release it as early as possible in an area we new was safe. It was an area of the yard with large grassy areas and plenty of cover. In fact one litter of our tame rabbits got loose that summer, and remained near the cages, eating the grass and hiding beneath my dad's brush hog. We eventually recaptured almost all of them. I found out later that some friends that raised rabbits would do the same, release young ones in an area secure from predators, so they could live off the grass while remaining safe. The key was to make sure the area was completely free of predators, had adequate hiding places and adequate food and water. The rabbits lived on their own, but stayed close for safety.

In the wild, though, that is rarely the conditions a rabbit would live in. There would be numerous predators and depending on the location sparse food.

Most of the animal rights protestors seem extremely cruel to animals in their delusional efforts to "protect" them.

Cue Law and Order music. So let's get this straight. A rabbit is stolen presumably by animal rights groups (this is a relatively safe assumption due to the presence of said fliers). Then with no further supporting evidence, you lead your reader to believe that the bunnies were released into the wild and were subsequently or soon will be gored and maimed by wild animals or cats. You then use this to support the alledged "cruelty" of animal rights protestors.

That seems to be libel on your part, similar to the behavior you condemned Planned Parenthood of in an earlier post. I find this a little more than ironic. Again chose a side of your mouth from which to speak.

So let's get this straight. Animal rights activists steal a pet in an attempt to protest the domestication of animals, and you think they'll keep it as a pet rather than turning it loose? And somehow I'm jumping to illogical conclusions?

Let's get this straight. What evidence do you have that said animal rights group protests the domestication of animals. Animal rights groups work on a variety of premises (animal testing, animal abuse, eating animals, etc.). Perhaps they felt the enclosure was too small and released it into a safe environment with more room. Yes, your are jumping to a conclusion by assuming that animal rights groups all protest against the domestication of animals.
