Death, Canadian Style

If Canada's national health-care system is so dang wonderful, why are so many Canadians coming to America to pay for their own medical care?
Why is the hip replacement center of Canada in Ohio -- at the Cleveland Clinic, where 10 percent of its international patients are Canadians?
Why is the Brain and Spine Clinic in Buffalo serving about 10 border-crossing Canadians a week? Why did a Calgary woman recently have to drive several hundred miles to Great Falls, Mont., to give birth to her quadruplets?
It's simple. As the market-oriented Fraser Institute in Vancouver, B.C., can tell you, Canada's vaunted "free" government health-care system cannot or deliberately will not provide its 33 million citizens with the nonemergency health care they want and need when they need or want it.
The bright side is, as long as we have Canada's screwed up health system as an example, it's less likely we'd be willing to jump into such an idiotic system ourselves.

You're kidding, right?
Young, healthy Canadians are totally in love with the system. I work with tons of them here in Korea.
I've notice that a lot of young people think "free" means "nobody has to pay for it". They don't think it through. They get their flu shots and their broken arms set and think all is hunky dory.
The Calgary woman did NOT drive to Great Falls to have her quadruplets! She was taken by airplane, and all her medical bills and the air ambulance flights were all covered by the government.
You make some good points, so don't mess up key facts like that :)
Health care is a privilege and not a right!
If you can't afford health care you are stupid and deserve what you get.
It is important to save children up until the point they are born. After that it is their stupid parents fault if they die of an easily treated disease, simply because they can not afford it.
GO USA! GO USA! GO USA!
Darwinism is for atheists, but Social Darwinism is always the best policy for America.
