Projecting racism
From the Associated Press via USA Today...
Whites are now in the minority in nearly one in 10 U.S. counties. And that increased diversity, fueled by immigration and higher birth rates among blacks and Hispanics, is straining race relations and sparking a backlash against immigrants in many communities.
Liberal reporters at the AP are projecting their own racism when they attribute the opposition to illegal immigration on growing minority numbers.
Conservatives oppose abortion, Liberals support it, yet abortion is promoted and performed much more in minority communities than in white communities. So who's afraid of minorities?
Why are there even "minority communities"? Conservatives favor a "melting pot" approach to culture, where people of diverse backgrounds share their heritage and traditions and emerge with a common culture consisting of the best aspect of all contributed. Liberals favor a "multi-cultural" approach where segregation is the rule, in both housing and education, and demonizing whites, men and Christians is the only common theme. Which method keeps minorities at a distance?
Who are "whites" anyway. White is not a ethnicity. It's really not that distinctive of a race since such a genetically-large pool of cultures are all tossed under the vague umbrella of "white". Depending on the agenda of the person using the word, it can include Arabs, Jews, Hispanics, even Blacks (of Hispanic origin).
There's also the factor that a great many Americans now select "Other" on the Census forms and write in "American".
It's interesting that such a trivial matter as 1 in ten counties now with "whites" in the minority, seems to upset Liberals reporters who feel they have to point it out. There's another word for that kind of rhetoric--race baiting.
