Inmates in charge of the asylum
In Cheshire, Connecticut, a mother and two daughters are raped, tortured and murdered after a parole board grants parole to two habitual criminals, one of which had promised, in no uncertain terms he would commit further crimes. Police were at the scene of the crime before the murders, but decided to wait, even as the victims' house began to burn after the parolees had fled. Two of the victims died of smoke inhalation, while police watched the house burn.
Meanwhile in Bel Mar, New Jersey, Joseph Palermo was fined by the city $572 because someone else rang the bell on his bike.
