Canadian Mennonites flee homes

Fifteen Mennonite families from Roxton Falls, Quebec are now planning to pack up and move rather than allow their children to be indoctrinated into the religion of Evolution and be exposed to homosexual recruitment. Roxton Falls has only about 1,300 people, and the mayor has pleaded with the Canadian government for some leeway, since the departure of the families will severely cripple the local economy, but the government remains adamant that the families must allow the religious indoctrination..

From the Vancouver Sun...

It's a question of religious intolerance, said Ronald Goossen, who in the early 1990s was among the first Mennonites from Manitoba to move to this sleepy town about 100 kilometres east of Montreal....

"...when they threaten to take our children and put them in foster homes, that's beyond what we can accept," said Goossen, 56.

Parents were warned they'll face legal proceedings if their children aren't enrolled in sanctioned schools this fall. That could lead to children being taken from families, Goossen said....

"We don't agree with the emphasis on evolution, which we consider false; we don't like the morality standards; and we don't like the acceptance of alternative lifestyles," he said, explaining the Mennonite community's opposition to the curriculum.

The response by the government...

"We are not trying to prevent them from living their life the way they want, but they have to obey the law when it comes to educating their kids," said Education Ministry spokesman Francois Lefebvre.

Orwellian to the core. "You can live your life the way you want, as long as it's our way."

At least they have the honesty to called it the "Education Ministry" since it functions as the branch of a religion.

Loved your comments, had a great chuckle with the last part about the "Education Ministry" since it functions as the branch of a religion.
