Eric Volz in the news
From KOAA-TV in Colorado Springs...
His family has asked Colorado Springs bondsman Bobby Brown to help with the investigation....
"It only took a second to realize the family was 110% credible," [Bobby] Brown said. The former El Paso county detective said what Nicaraguan police called an investigation was a joke. "It's terrible, it's a nightmare to try to piece this thing together," he said.
A Nicaraguan judge cut off testimony and found Volz guilty of killing Doris Jimenez, sentencing him to 30 years in prison, despite the fact that 10 witnesses put Volz at his office the day of the murder. Brown says the judge had an angry mob outside and had no choice but to convict.
"There's no doubt she was definitely afraid for her life," he said. Brown is spending hours helping the family develop a case for the appeals court. At the same time he's trying to get some political muscle on their side. Brown believes Eric will be found innocent. "I think we have a very, very good shot. I feel comfortable with it."
What I can't figure out is that for a town and a country so dependant of tourism, what in the world do they think this will do to that source of income? Nicaragua is about the last place I'd want to visit now. It looks to me you might easily wind up in some sewer of a prison after being falsely accused of a crime some rich Nicaragua did.
