Pat Buchanan: An example of what happens when you don't know when to shut up

From WorldNetDaily...

Author Pat Buchanan says President Bush should be impeached for failing to stop the invasion of illegal aliens across the U.S. border with Mexico.

"I think he's committed an impeachable offense in refusing to enforce the immigration laws and in failing to uphold the Constitution by defending the states against this invasion," Buchanan told radio talk-show host Curt Smith this weekend on National Public Radio stations in upstate New York.

I agree that our handling of illegal immigrates is bad, and that Bush could and should do more, but an impeachable offense?!?

Buchanan's writings have become increasingly extreme, which makes it that much harder to defend his excellent 1992 speech at the GOP Convention. I mean defend in terms of fighting off the idiotic accusation that the speech was racist. It wasn't, but Liberals love to tack that accusation on anything they think it will stick to. Buchanan hasn't made our job any easier since then.

One tactic Liberals have been using throughout the Bush administration is to continually call for his impeachment. This serves several purpose, the obvious one being to malign the President. But a secondary purpose is to belittle the act of impeachment, therefore belittle the historic fact that Bill Clinton was impeached. If they can ever get impeachment proceeding initiated against Bush, Clinton becomes historically "absolved" of the smear of impeachment.

Again, Buchanan isn't helping us with this nonsense about impeaching Bush.

Perhaps Buchanan, for once in recent history, has a point.

American presidents need to believe in American sovereignty, borders, their oaths of office, as well as American laws and the constitution.

This president more than any other thinks America needs no borders and no sovereignty, in strong disagreement with us who elected him.
